Thandie Newton is one beauty in Hollywood. and yes she is, shes very talented and has made appearances on the big screen ever-since the nineties starring alongside household names such as Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise just to mention a few. Her tell-it-as-it-is nature has been canned in by advisers, publicists as well as industry pressure. Thandie has had her fair share of it all, you name it; racism, sexual abuse, sexism and she’s finally decided ” I kind of gave up on being given gifts from the industry. Thandie, talks about her works in the US; she says
“I love being here, but I can’t work, because I can’t do Downton Abbey, can’t be in Victoria, can’t be in Call The Midwife. Well, I could, but I don’t want to play someone who’s being racially abused.” Newton told the Sunday Times Magazine. . “I’m not interested in that, don’t want to do it,” she continued. “There just seems to be a desire for stuff about the royal family, stuff from the past, which is understandable, but it just makes it slim pickintgs for people of colour.”
“I’m talented at what I do, but I’ve had to struggle against racism and sexism,” Newton said. “But I’m glad of it, in a way, that I survived and overcame.”
Thandie currently featuring in HBO’s smash ‘West world’ and now to BBC1’s drama series Line of Duty where she’ll be playing Detective Chief Inspector Roz Huntley, who finds herself in the sights of the AC-12 anti-corruption force, Newton’s career has never been busier. lovely spirit...
